Salamanders are a common amphibian that sometimes wanders into people’s homes.

Seal up cracks and holes
Salamanders can squeeze through extremely small spaces, so it’s essential to seal up any cracks or holes in your foundation, windows, and doors.
If you find any, seal them with caulk or another type of sealant.
Sometimes homeowners find that caulk isn’t enough – if this is the case, you may need to use expanding spray foam or steel wool to fill the space.
Keep an eye on your gutters and downspouts.
Another way that salamanders can get into your house is through the gutters and downspouts.
Make sure that these are clear of debris so the water can flow freely and not pool near your foundation.
Keep your yard clean and tidy.
If your yard is full of leaves, woodpiles, and other debris, it’s more likely that salamanders will take up residence there.
In addition, trimming any vegetation touching your house will make it less likely for salamanders (and other pests) to find their way inside.
Use a door sweep
A door sweep is a strip of material (usually plastic or metal) attached to your door’s bottom.
This prevents anything more significant than its narrowest part from getting through – meaning Salamanders will be stopped in their tracks.

Remove any sources of standing water.
All salamanders need access to water so they can lay their eggs.
If you have any sources of standing water on your property (e.g., bird baths, kiddie pools, etc.), remove them or empty them out regularly.
Set up a barrier around your home
If you’re concerned about keeping salamanders out, you can set up a barrier around your home using mesh netting or hardware cloth.
This creates an impenetrable barrier between your home and the outside world – just make sure there aren’t any gaps or openings that Salamanders could squeeze through!
